Design Engineer & Process Engineer Interview

      13 Jul 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Yonkers, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Kimber (Yonkers, NY) in Jul 2013

      Interview

First, I was interview by HR person on the phone she gave me go and arranges another interview with Chief Engineer. Received another call after few days and spoken to chief regarding Engineer positions. She said she likes me and want me come in and meet in-person with other engineers on-site, interview schedule. Get here at 8:15 am -lengthy employment application. 9:15-9:30 -HR-Interview – person covering for HR Manager 9:30-10-15 -Interview - engineer 10:15-11:00-Interview with -egnineer – did not show up 11:00-11:45- Interview with -engineer 11:45-12:45 – Interview with (chief engineer) – does not want to meet. Please confirm Maureen is the hiring engineer and the others are engineers on her team. First, they were way off schedule, unorganized, and some point unprofessional and wanted me to come 8:15 people I was there @ 7:30, no wonder they are behind customer order. As we know first impression is the last impression. Talking about the interview according to above schedule, engineer walks in with 5-10 mini mechanical gun components asking me questions about it. How can I answer his questions when I do not know anything about the gun, pistol, riffles, or etc? Remember they are way off schedule, second person do not show up, waiting in the conference room unattended. Third engineering walks in sit parallel to me no eye contact very unprofessional and show me complex pistol component drawing and asking question. I am surprise that I spoke to the chief engineer on the phone and told her that I do not have any background in the guns. Lastly, willie walk in hand me his card and said will call you. I ask him about Maureen, she is the one who really likes on the phone interview and arrange the entire interview schedule now she does not want meet very unprofessional. People like this drive the company, but unprofessionalism and attitude bring company reputation down. I went for so many interviews this scenario is new for me, but I learn something new. Good luck to the future candidates.
