      Engineering Manager Interview

      14 Aug 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Las Vegas, NV
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kaseya (Las Vegas, NV) in May 2019

      Interview

Initial phone screen by company recruiter asked basic job history questions. Second phone screen by Vice President asked more detailed job history questions as well as asked how I would handle several management scenarios. Third interview was a video conference with two senior engineers. First half of the interview was questions about job history and management scenarios. Second half was very technical. Most were easily handled, but a few were much more technical than expected for a management position and very database centric.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The most difficult question was complicated (and had a 15 minute deadline), but was close to the following: Develop an algorithm in pseudo code for finding the largest group of numbers with a value greater than all other numbers (i.e. 3,4,5,5,5,2,5,5,3). Answer, would be 5,5,5. The algorithm must be performant over millions of rows.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Kaseya (Bengaluru) in Oct 2025

      Interview

I had applied via LinkedIn and also left a note to HR via InMail as I know the number of applications will be very high. I got a call after 2 weeks and then the HR explained the process. Their primary concern was around Work From Office all 5 days and stay within 30kms distance from Office. I had a good first round interview, there were normal introductions and we discussed on the people management responsibilities and challenges for ~30mins and the second half was System Design where I was asked to design Twitter app. It was a good discussion and the feedback was positive with an end note saying they will be setting up next round soon. However, it has been more than 2 weeks, I never got a call. I don't mind missing out on the opportunity but keeping the candidate informed of the status and timelines is something we expect the HR to do at a bare minimum.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Managing conflicts within Team, Identifying and Nurturing talent, Difficult Decisions and rationale while making those decisions. System Design round to design Twitter clone.
