      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Kaplan in Jun 2012

      Interview

I found the job online and applied through their website. I thought I was qualified so I thought I'd give it a shot. (By qualified, I mean I had experience, although they don't require it, I had the test scores, and I felt I met the listed qualifications--enthusiastic, outgoing, able to teach, and willing to have fun.) I filled out a form and submitted all of the required documents and information. I'm pretty sure they do a background check on you during this process, but I can't be sure. I received a response to the online application immediately (within 3 days.) We set up a time and date for the audition. You are asked to fill out a supplement application about employment history and other information, that they pretty much try to fill out for you through your resume and their initial application. The audition consists of a group presentation during which you present a solution to a problem based on how you would approach it and teach others to solve it. Individuals auditioning for other jobs with the company, not necessarily your position, and the auditioner are your students. You are given 5 minutes to present the problem. If you pass the audition, then you will be invited to interview with a local manager (regional or otherwise.) The interview consists of a 20-60 minute conversation about your experience and what's listed on your resume. They ask you about the position. They informed me that the position was not an in-home position, but a traveling position, a fact of which I was unaware. The interviewer discussed salary, experience, on the job duties, and problems that may arise in the workplace. They then inform you that they will be in touch. After that you must wait to hear back about whether you received the job.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kaplan (Boulder, CO)

      Interview

The first requirement was to record a video introducing and explaining a sample test question. This was followed by an online interview where you are asked to teach some sample questions, and given some feedback. You are then asked to incorporate this feedback in your presentation. Following this technical interview, there is a final interview with the hiring manager which is more of a regular job interview.

      Question 1

Q: What do you think you did best and worst in your presentation?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kaplan (New York, NY) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I first completed a series of questions where I had to answer a variety of questions via an online platform that recorded my answers. I was asked questions about certain teaching scenarios. Next, I had an assessment where I was to "teach" three questions to a member of the Kaplan staff. During that interview, I was asked more specific teaching scenario questions. Then I was interviewed by the Faculty Manager, who gave me the run-down of the job and what would be expected.

      Interview

Interview process was somewhat long -- first you have to record yourself teaching different SAT problems, then I had a skype interview with one person, and later I had a skype interview with another person. Overall it takes awhile to get set up as a tutor (about 1-2 months) but it is a great and rewarding job once you begin!
