This is for the West Los Angeles location. I Applied online in January 2024 and then a recruiter contacted with a phone screening on February 1st. Contacted on February 16th by the hiring director for the role. I ended up withdrawing for personal reasons. My observations were that the recruiter was warm and professional. Unfortunately, I didn't get a warm and supportive vibe from the director's communication style; the director was very abrupt and direct in communication, even in the email for the interview invite, there were no common courtesies from the director like please or thank you like I extend to others and am used to from other organizations. There was no thank you for your interest in this role and for your patience throughout the process to acknowledge the time and energy to go through each step. It felt like the director was going through the motions. It felt like the director's communication style matched the style used in the authoritarian leadership style, which may work for some and at times has its place for communicating policies and procedures. I prefer a more conversational and soft approach while getting to know the people I may be spending most of my day working with. It seemed like a mismatch in communication styles from the 7 minute phone call to set up the interview before I withdrew for personal reasons. It wasn't a great candidate experience and that may be something that specific department could work on to attract and retain talent. I will say the recruiter was very polite and courteous, and it just didn't feel the same once it got to the hiring director. If the phone screen is indicative of the workplace culture, I wouldn't feel very welcome or comfortable, so maybe things worked out for the best and it's just not a good fit.
