Registered Nurse I (New Grad) Interview

      31 Dec 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Irvine, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Irvine, CA) in Dec 2017

      Interview

Process took less than a month. I applied online (external hire) for the New Grad Residency program at the Irvine location. After about 2 weeks I received an email to fill out a candidate snap shot (info for desired location, certifications, etc. plus 2 or 3 questions). A week later I received an email invitation for a group interview. It was about 30 candidates in room, with a panel of initially 5 staff members + 1 recruiter. A brief orientation of the days layout and introductions by members of the panel. First activity is to get to know your partner, after 10 mins. stand in front of everyone and you sell your partner as to why they should be hired to work at KP. Second activity included choosing a random question and answering in front of everyone again. We were given a short break and returned to them making the cuts. Those left were given appointment times (same day) to return to have a 1-on-1 with just you and the panel (3 staff members). The atmosphere is more impersonal than most interviews I’ve been on, which were also Magnet recognized organizations. For me personally, I felt here, you aren’t able to connect on a level for them to even judge if you fit their unit.
