I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG (Stamford, CT) in Jun 2012
Interview
Mostly over the phone interviews - The interview process was very easy - I dealt mainly with the recruiter. I called her often to find out about the status of the application. She was not very responsive. It took a long time until I received the confirmation on the offer over the phone, and then they sent the offer package by mail. My only complaint was on the time it took them to confirm the offer.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at KPMG (Singapore)
Interview
After submitting my CV, there was a virtual interview and they asked a market sizing question + why I wanted to join the specific department. They also asked about stuff in my CV and it was overall pretty manageable, they don't expect you to know much as an intern.
It was an hour long with 2 hiring manager and HR. Whole process was like one round to offer. This spanned around 2 weeks in total from HR reach out to offer letter.
The interview process at KPMG was straightforward but rigorous. I completed an online assessment, followed by a video interview, and then a panel interview with case questions. The team was professional, and the timeline was reasonable, taking about a month from application to offer.
