I applied online. I interviewed at Jotform in Mar 2023
Interview
I had a disappointing experience with Jotform's hiring process. After completing the interviews, I was extended a full-time offer. During the offer stage, I made a single attempt to negotiate compensation, which I believe is a standard part of the hiring process. Rather than discussing the request or clarifying that the offer was non-negotiable, the company immediately rescinded the offer.
What was most frustrating was the lack of communication afterward. After being informed that the offer had been withdrawn, I reached out to the recruiter for clarification, but never received a response. The process ended abruptly with no opportunity for discussion or feedback.
While every company has the right to set compensation policies, rescinding an offer solely because a candidate attempted to negotiate—and then ceasing communication entirely—felt unprofessional and left me with a negative impression of the organization.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jotform (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2023
Interview
The interview process was fairly simple with the initial call from the recruiter then followed by a hiring manager video call, then an hour long panel call with the hiring manager included.
I got the offer and was initially excited, but when I asked about negotiation, my recruiter immediately sent me an email responding with, "We don't like you're that excited to join our company. We are rescinding the offer." They definitely lowballed me initially but I just assumed because I was going to be negotiating that it would be okay to build upon the number. They did not give me an opportunity to even say a case and immediately rescinded my offer within a day. I've never had this happen to me before and I truly hope they realize that negotiations are a part of looking for a job. And even if our numbers don't align, rescinding completely is just cruel. I responded back asking to talk through over the phone and my recruiter never responded to me... ever.
