I interviewed at Joby Aviation (Santa Cruz, CA)
Interview
The interviews were excessively lengthy and repetitive. Some candidates lacked a background in aerospace certification.
Instead of reiterating the same points to different individuals, it would have been more efficient to have a single interview panel.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions primarily focused on general background and experience, indicating a greater interest in assessing attitude and response capabilities.
Several rounds of meeting with many potential teams to see if I was a technical, skill, and behavioral fit. Some immediately went poorly, and I greatly appreciated how everyone remained professional and didn't hold my performance with one team against me when I met with another. I was asked to describe how I'd handle several scenarios. I also spent much longer than expected doing behavioral assessment - I'd say I was interviewed at greater length for cultural fit over time spent assessing my technical skills.

Question 1
Are you more comfortable in a role program managing a larger team or smaller team? What were some unexpected challenges from both?
