I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Jefferies (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2012
Interview
Submitted resume through an alum. Received a call from HR regarding a phone interview about 3 months later. Had a phone interview with an Associate in the group who asked about interests, resume, experience, and a few technical questions around merger analyses and valuation. Invited to Superday where I had 6 back to back 2:1 interviews with SVPs, VPs, Associates and Analysts. Very technical interview as it was for a lateral hire. Needed to understand valuation methodologies (DCF, LBO, comps, etc) inside out. Also made the questions very tough so that you would stumble and see how you would react under pressure.

Question 1
very detailed questions around DCF. how to adjust present value factors including mid-period convention when transaction occurs as of a certain date.
The interview process consisted of a phone screen, a first round interview, and finally a superday. This was all conducted via zoom and the process was relatively quick. It was roughly two weeks from start to finish.

I applied online. I interviewed at Jefferies (London, England)
Interview
The Jefferies interview process was unexpectedly slow and drawn-out. While the content remained standard for investment banking—focusing on typical technical and behavioural questions—the overall length was disappointing. I found the timeline unnecessarily long compared to other firms, which impacted my overall candidate experience.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Jefferies
Interview
Interviewed with SVP, 2 VPs, Associate, and analyst over 1 week and received offer within 3 weeks. Technical questions were industry specific and behavioral ones focused on capacity to work long hours and desire to work at Jefferies in the specific group.
