Resume was sent thru a referral at the VP level.
Got a call immediately from the recruiter. She nicely explained the product, the position and really tried to sell Jasper to me. I was impressed by her efforts. Since it was a referral, I got called directly for an onsite.
Setting up the onsite interview took a lot of time. More than a week. With a bunch of recruiters involved and a lot of confusion.
There were 4 interviews setup. 2 developers, a manager and a director.
It started at 11 am. 11-1.45, 11.45 to 12.30. Then there was a 1/2 an hour break and then 1 to 1.45 and 1.45 to 2.30. I wasnt sure why the break was.
First 2 developer interviews are done and then the manager comes in and tells me...and this is verbatim "I dont know why they added this break. If you want, you can go outside, have lunch and come back in 30 mins"
I decide to wait...so am sitting in a conf room for 30 mins doing nothing.
Then the manager comes in, gives me a problem. I solve it. He gives me another problem, tells me he will be back in 5 mins while I solve it. I solve the problem. He comes back. I explain the solution to him. A few questions later, he tells me that the 4th interview wont happen coz the person is busy.
Now, I understand and fully know that at times, if the initial interviews go bad, then the final interviews can be cancelled. But in this case, the initial interviews were not THAT bad. I almost got a vibe, that they called me just coz of the referral and had no interest in hiring me.
Now here is the thing. 2 of my friends (again referrals) interviewed with the same team within that week and had a similar experience with interviews ending early etc.
The office seemed to be pretty empty. Maybe coz a lot have left after the acquisition. Then again, with employees like these, I wouldnt even consider joining this company.
