I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Mar 2022

      Interview

The whole process was very fast compared to other companies. After applying, I received a notification the next day telling me their decision. The first step is to just submit a basic application on their website to pass their pre-screening.

      Interview

After submitting my resume, I successfully landed an interview. The process unfolded seamlessly, though I couldn't shake a sense of unease about the interviewer. Despite my efforts, I received the disappointing news of a job rejection. Reflecting on the experience, I aim to enhance my interview skills and build confidence for future opportunities.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (London, England) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Overall, my interviewing experience was pleasant, one of the better ones I've had. The interviewers are friendly and they helped when I struggled, by giving hints or asking extra questions. I liked that they did not ask any behavioural-type questions, we went straight to problem-solving every time. The phone interview was very similar to the video they published on their website. It had three "stages" more or less, each one slightly harder. We didn't run the code, but it was supposed to compile (roughly). At the end I had to do some complexity analysis as well. The "on-site" interviews were held online. There are at least two, back to back, 1h long interviews. Then you get a break and they decide if they still need to give you one or two more interviews. These ones were similar to the phone interview, but I didn't do as well, so they might be different towards the end. After the interviews, you also get to talk to one of the employees and ask them questions. They give you a response fairly quickly, two work days at most.

      Question 1

I'd say the problems were mostly implementation-based, they don't ask complex algorithms. I've seen a few similar problems on Leetcode, where you model a complex data-structure or simulation. They seem to value correctness of the code the most, so understanding every single corner case, and avoiding off-by-one errors seemed the most important to me.
