I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Apr 2019
Interview
I was contacted shortly after applying (a few days) for a phone screening. I went through the following processes:
- 1hr phone interview with technical question
- on-site interview (2 ~1.25 hr technical rounds, 30 min lunch, another 1.25 hr technical round). There are 2 interviewers per on-site round, one leading and one observing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Phone interview was data structures/coding, with multiple parts/extensions to the question. On-site questions were more open ended problem solving, data structures and algorithms, multiple parts to each question.
it was nice. He was very kind and talkative. he explained the problem quite clearly. It was good experience. Will apply again definitely. Jane street is very good. You guys shud apply too
Fast and efficient, everyone is friendly.
The interview was fully techinical, no background or behavioral questions for me. The style is very collaborative — asking for hint in a proper way would be considered a plus I guess.
First round was online, one round of 1hr class design questions.
Given a class interface, you need to implement it with another given class interface. My question is like a general tree question.
You kinda need to go far enough to get to next round, so if you're too slow or have trouble solving easier parts, you cannot make it. I didn't move on.
