I had a very disappointing experience with Iris van Herpen during the recruitment process for the Multidisciplinary Designer position. After submitting my application, I was contacted and invited to complete a case study within a very short timeframe (5 days). I accepted the challenge and delivered the project on time, feeling motivated and genuinely happy to have been selected for this stage. After submitting the case study, however, I received no response at all for an entire month. During this time, I sent two polite follow-up emails, one week apart, but never received any reply. This was especially frustrating considering the amount of time, effort, and creative work I had invested in the case study. After a month of silence, I finally received a brief email informing me that the position had already been filled. No feedback was provided, and I was never given the opportunity to present or discuss my project in an interview. Overall, the process felt extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of candidates’ time and work. Being asked to produce a full case study and then being ignored for weeks gave me the strong impression that my work was not valued. Transparency, communication and basic feedback are essential in any fair recruitment process and unfortunately this experience lacked all three.
