I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Intrinsic Reaction (Ardsley, NY) in Dec 2017
Interview
Interview 1: 10-15 minutes, very basic easy questions. My interviewer, who is the branch manager at Ardsley, a few minutes into describing the job, started randomly describing a managerial role they were looking to fill and then asked me if it sounded like a job I could do. o.0 That was the first red flag. Their was no transitionary statement made like "I know you came in to interview for the associate position but we are looking for a manager. I said I'd be open to it, but would certainly need to know the roles and responsibilities. I was told id get a phone call b/t 5:30 and 6:30 if I made it to round 2. I got a call at 7.
Second Round Interview: It is a full day 9:30 - 5:30 of "shadowing". Branch manager introduced me to an employee that he also called a branch manager. I shadowed him. It was okay, he was friendly, did his job well, but all in all it was a HUGE waste of time. And the company is not forthright whatsoever. Half way into the interview he explained to me how it is a person gets paid.
1. It is commissions based only. KEEP IN MIND their job postings list a salary. So, yes, they are LYING.
2. You are never at the office unless you make it to assistant manager or manager. Otherwise you are out in the field trying to get people who have federal insurance to sign up for a free phone.
3. When you first start you get 8 dollars for every free phone you sign up. Then you advanced to a stage called trainee. The only way to advance out of this stage is to sign up 440 phones/week. At that point you are promoted to assistant manager, you get 14 dollars a phone if you go out on the field and 10% of the office income. (CAN ANYONE SAY PYRAMID SCHEME???) To make it to manager you have to save up 15k of your own money and might have to open a new branch if your company already has a manager.
4. The person I shadowed only signed up 8 (giver or take) phones for the day....so less than minimum wage. He said it was a slow day, but if your minimum guarantee is 40 and you only sign up 8 I think its safe to say your minimum guarantee is INFLATED
By the end of the interview, I filled out the exit form in a way that made it clear I wasn't interested. I should have just left halfway through the day.
