      Finance Manager Interview

      13 Dec 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Salt Lake City, UT
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Intermountain Health (Salt Lake City, UT) in Mar 2008

      Interview

Typically there are two rounds of interviews. The first round is by the hiring manager. Often the first round will be with other team members. The second round of interviews is by the hiring managers boss and possibly by some additional individuals the candidate may interact with. Intermountain is notoriously slow in the hiring process. If they make an offer they try and make you feel as though there is no room for negotiations. Sometimes this is the case but usually there is a little bit of wiggle room in salary negotiations. Just know that the initial salary is very important because the annual raises are horrible and rarely keep up with inflation. Salary compression is very prevalent among folks that have been there more than a few years. The best candidates are often not selected due to politics, favors, etc. of the company higher ups.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

You will probably take a computer test to prove your ability to use Microsoft Excel and possibly Microsoft Access. The Excel test covers calculations for healthcare deductions, asking for definitions for fixed and variable expenditures and basic insert row and column and formulas in Excel. Also, avoid telling them how much you currently make because they will likely only match that amount in an offer.
