I interviewed at Innovate UK (Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England, England)
Interview
The interview process for Innovate UK’s Innovation Lead – Healthy Lives was conducted remotely with a panel of interviewers. It included a structured panel interview, a presentation segment, and a series of competency-based questions. The panel was professional and clearly defined each section of the process at the start. The presentation required focused preparation on sector-specific innovation challenges and proposed solutions, relevant to the Healthy Lives portfolio. Competency questions explored my experience in project management, developing stakeholder relationships, and leading cross-sector health innovation initiatives. Overall, the process comprehensively assessed both my strategic understanding of the sector and my ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder programmes within health and life sciences. The interviewers were approachable and provided clarity on expectations throughout, making the process professional and well-structured

Question 1
One of the main questions was: “Tell us about a time when you led the design and delivery of a complex innovation programme, working with diverse partners to achieve measurable outcomes. What was your approach and what impact did you achieve?”
The interview was very challenging and I was asked to complete a detailed task with little guidance. One interviewer also asked me a trick question in the interview which is not really setting you up for success in an interview when you’re already so stressed.
