I attended a walk-in interview for SQL and Power BI, which was meant for candidates with 4–5 years of experience. I currently have around 2 years of experience in this field.
The interview process involved writing 10 SQL queries and answering 10 Power BI-related questions. The SQL section was extremely challenging, as the codes were quite complex and difficult to complete without reference tools like AI or documentation. The Power BI questions were also not easy, testing in-depth knowledge and real-time project exposure.
Out of approximately 50 candidates, only 2–3 were able to answer successfully, while most others had to walk out.
In my opinion, the interview could have been designed more fairly — at least 50% of candidates should have been given a reasonable test or practical round suited to their experience level. After all, Infosys is a dream company for many professionals, including myself. I’ve admired the company since 1997, but unfortunately, I haven’t yet had the chance to work there. I still hope for an opportunity someday.
