Infosys Specialist Programmer – Final Interview Experience (HackWithInfy Path)
Interview Date: September 2025
Role: Specialist Programmer (SP)
Mode: On-campus, in-person Final Interview
Context
I had already cleared the HackWithInfy online coding round. The final stage was conducted in person and consisted of two parts (Coding + Technical/HR) combined as the final interview. The coding here was not another elimination test, but rather a way to assess soft skills under pressure — like patience, focus, and handling interruptions — along with technical ability.
Interview Structure
Around 15 candidates were seated together in a hall.
Coding task: 90 minutes overall, but each candidate had to solve 1 out of 2 assigned questions within ~45 minutes.
During coding, interviewers kept interrupting with questions, checking your thought process, and observing how you stay composed in a stressful environment.
After coding, selected candidates were taken for a 1:1 Technical + HR discussion.
Part 1: Coding Round (Soft Skills + Technical)
Questions I received:
Gas Station Problem (Greedy approach).
Generate all possible valid parentheses strings (Backtracking).
I spent ~20 minutes understanding the problem, then attempted implementation. My solution passed partial test cases. The challenge was not just solving the problem, but staying focused despite constant monitoring and time pressure.
Part 2: Technical + HR Discussion
Self-introduction (interviewer asked me not to recite but explain naturally).
Strengths & weaknesses.
Project discussion: I explained my projects, their tech stacks, and AI/ML aspects.
Some conceptual technical questions (related to project technologies).
Ended with the interviewer asking if I had any questions for them.
My Takeaways
The coding in the final round was more of a stress test — it measured resilience, focus, and structured problem-solving under distractions, not just coding ability.
The technical/HR round focused on how clearly you can explain your projects, problem-solving mindset, and personal fit.
Tips for Future Candidates
Revise Greedy, DP, Backtracking — these are popular in coding questions.
Practice coding in timed + distracting environments.
Be ready to explain projects in simple, structured words (problem → solution → impact).
Stay calm during interruptions — they are testing patience and clarity of thought.
For HR questions, focus on authentic answers (don’t memorize).
Overall, it was a great learning experience and I feel proud to have attended the Final Interview for Infosys Specialist Programmer. I am now waiting for the results, which will be shared later.
