      Devops Engineer Interview

      9 Feb 2016
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Imgur (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Interview process was good - fairly typical for a busy startup (ie: you need to put yourself in front of them, don't expect to be pursued or courted like with the big tech companies). No trick questions - instead a mix of "obvious to anyone who didn't lie on their resume" and "how would you build a system to do _____"? Only a few sort of googly-nonsense questions, and they were mostly playful get-to-know-you kind of things. New tech didn't come up. I personally think some new trends are vital to success going forward, but they're looking instead for more "old-school" linux hackers. Which isn't a bad thing. Fanboys beware.

This feedback is really great! One of the things we are actively trying to do is constantly iterate on our tech interview process, questions and coding sessions. With each new hire we will be leaning on all of you to help make this stronger. Thanks for joining the team!
