      Academy Support Advisor Interview

      12 Jun 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Imagine Learning (Washington, DC) in Feb 2025

      Interview

Applied and within a few days I was asked to record a one-sided interview that took just a few minutes. A few weeks later, I was invited to 1:1 interview via zoom. That interview was pretty standard and the woman I spoke with made me feel very at ease and comfortable. I was then invited to another interview with the same woman plus someone else. In this interview, they asked me to be familiar with their schools and they asked me questions about these schools based on mock scenarios. I also had to complete a couple mock grad plans. I felt super confident about my interview and felt they really liked me. They ended the interview with some light-hearted questions such as “what is your favorite holiday and why?” I felt so confident about my interview and was really expecting an offer after that. I was told I would hear about next steps in a week or two. When I did not hear back after 2.5 weeks, I reached out to the hiring manager to see if there were any updates. I received no response. A few days later, I received a generic “we will mot be moving further with your application” emails. I was definitely crushed. I felt my 3 interviews went so well and I have plenty of experience in the field. I would have genuinely liked to know why I was not offered the position. Definitely disappointed.

      Interview

One self recorded video answering questions. Then I met with two supervisors for an interview, and then there was one last interview with the director. I was given study material and I needed to answer questions based off of possible scenarios parents could ask based off of the material given.

      Interview

Did and online recorded interview, then they decided to move forward with a interview with a supervisor (and someone in the academic advising department) . Throughout the interview process they asked to educate myself on all 4 of their online courses. Prior to the video interview with the supervisor, they provided 3 mock transcripts to complete graduation plans for and discuss which student would fit in which school they had. The mock transcripts are pretty average in an interview in an academic advising position. The difficulty came in when you had to memorize the difference between their online schools and discuss which student you would fit where in their online schools. They told me it is difficult to have your child home with you while doing this job which is understandable but also laughable considering they don't even pay a wage that would allow daycare to even be an option. I had to try my best to keep from laughing when they said they only paid $19 p/h for what they expected. After the first video face to face interview, I got an email asking to meet their AP for one of their schools. I replied and got my email returned to me .I tried to reach out again and no answer, Finally, after this two-month process, I finally got an email saying they went with someone else. I guess it was nice they sent an email letting me know eventually but I had already been working for someone else for a month. Overall, frustrating and negative experience.
