I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Illumina in Nov 2016
Interview
I applied for a role of Software Development Internship and Data Science Internship. I applied in October 2016, and received a reply in November for a video interview. Interview had basic HR questions. The video Interview took place via Hirevue platform. I received a reject in December. Overall process was nice and lean. I only had to give one video Interview for both the roles, it was directly forwarded to both the hiring managers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked questions like why this company, why this post, why you, previous experience, etc.
Virtual interview, I didn't get to talk to a real person, had to record all of my answers with a time limit, it was a horrible process and there was very little human communication
The first step was an audio-only hirevue that allowed two attempts. After passing that, there were two video call interviews with team members for a total of around 90 minutes give or take.

Interview
Weird video interview where they asked me "How would you explain to a 6-year-old why the sky is orange at sunset." The other question I don't remember but was equally strange for a 2-question video interview. It felt very impersonal.
