Let me save other candidates some time: be very cautious before investing significant effort in Ibotta's interview process. Ibotta ghosted me after four rounds and a time-intensive, unpaid presentation. No surprise after reading reviews from their own employees.
I completed four interview stages, including a time-intensive, unpaid data analysis project that I then presented to two Team Leads, Account Management. After all of that, I was ghosted by the Business Recruiter. Complete silence one month later. Not a rejection email, courtesy call, or anything resembling respect even though I followed up asking for an update.
During the process, a man who is the Team Lead, Account Manager, grilled me on granular details of Ibotta's proprietary IBN, which is information that no outside candidate would reasonably have such details about beyond what’s on the website. He was also openly combative during my presentation, seemingly play-acting as a difficult client. Whether that was intentional or just his default manner, it was unprofessional either way and came across poorly to me. The actual hiring manager for this role (same title) by contrast, conducted herself with professionalism during our 1:1 interview and during my presentation.
After being ghosted by the Business Recruiter, I went back and read Glassdoor reviews from actual Ibotta employees. The themes are consistent: poor leadership, little respect for the people who work there. Having experienced Ibotta’s recruiting process firsthand, I believe every word.
Companies reveal who they are in how they treat candidates. This one revealed plenty, and I’m relieved that I haven’t joined Ibotta as an employee.
