      ESL Instructor Interview

      13 May 2012
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ILSC (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2010

      Interview

I found job online and was emailed a few hours after I sent in my resume. School director asked if I could come in for an interview and I did that day. Had a quick interview and was hired.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you engage your students?

      ESL Instructor Interview

      25 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ILSC in Mar 2018

      Interview

Fairly casual. The usual ESL downtown school type questions in one of the director's offices at one of the campuses. I apparently need to fill in 30 words here - a normal kind of office for an ESL school. a normal kind of director for an ESL school.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

Something like ILSC bills itself as a school with a difference and/or some esoteric word to try to distinguish itself. How would you provide that awesome and esoteric experience to students who come here for four week sessions and expect to improve dramatically in four weeks and will be angry if they don't and they pay a lot of money so really can you deliver this cookie cutter situation? The fact that you've taught for more than 25 years at a variety of excellent post secondary institutions is irrelevant to us - how can you entertain the students?

      Question 2

What would you do if all the students said they had all ready done the material you were giving them? Would you be able to on the spot come up with a completely different lesson lest they be unhappy for a millisecond?
      1 Answer

      Question 3

Do you think ILSC cares that you have a tremendous amount of experience when what we are really looking for is someone who can fit into our culture here of student entertainment/cruise ship?
