I applied online through a talent acquisition program. I got invited for a phone interview, followed by several online tests (IQ and personality). A couple days later I was invited on location in Delft. I was put in a group with six other applicants. We had to present ourselves and prepare some business cases while being observed by ten or so IKEA employees. I was told they liked me but did not have a suitable job for me at the time.
After several months a relevant position opened up and another phone interview followed. A week later I was invited to come to Delft for another face to face interview. This all went well and the last round would be an interview with two managers. For some unknown reason months passed between the phone interview, the f2f interview and the final interviews.
When I got to Delft for the final interviews, the first manager I had an appointment with didn't show up. After waiting for an hour I had an interview with the second manager (a global head). This was an interview without any hard questions, I never got 'challenged' and it seemed to be a formality mostly.
However, after this interview I did not hear anything from IKEA anymore for two weeks. After calling HR several times myself I finally heard back from them: I didn't get the job.
After having invested this much time in IKEA I found the way it was communicated to be very disappointing. Also I felt kind of used by them - as if they were stalling the process to find another more suitable candidate. I also did not quite get why the global head did not ask a lot about my experience, but still blamed it on my experience to not continue on with me.
All in all I am disappointed in the whole process since I think IKEA has the potential to be a great employer.
