      Interview

I interviewed for a Software Engineer position in February 2025. I dealt with an external recruiter. I had a total of 7 interviews with Humaans (one with someone from engineering, then two separate technical interviews, then one behavioural interview, then two interviews with different C-suite members, and then one final interview with someone from engineering). It was a combination of remote and on site at their office. The process took 3.5 weeks. The technical interviews were leetcode (2 questions), and a technical discussion (kind of systems design, but mostly being asked questions). Most of the people were very friendly. I did not get offered the job and the feedback why was that they did not think I showed enough enthusiasm for working at Humaans.

      Interview

The interview process for a position at Humaans began with a phone screen scheduled very quickly after the initial contact from the recruiter. I appreciated the promptness and secured a slot within two days. Unfortunately, the interview itself fell short of expectations. Upon joining the call, I noticed the recruiter did not have their camera turned on and even discouraged me from using mine. This impersonal approach is not common in my interview processes and set a strange tone for the interview. More concerning was the complete lack of questions relevant to the specific role I was applying for. The recruiter did ask a couple of generic questions about what I sought in a new opportunity, but their responses throughout the conversation suggested a lack of attentiveness. Silence after my answers and interjections like "uuhh, so..." made me realise they were not paying attention and felt like I wasn't even being fully heard. The entire interview, which was originally scheduled for 30 minutes, concluded after just 7 minutes. The recruiter then informed me they would forward my CV to Humaans for evaluation. Which immedietly made me think, what was the point of that entire interview? Apparently, it was just a glorified resume delivery service, with zero attempt to assess my qualifications for the actual position. The lack of professionalism, irrelevant questions, and unclear purpose created a sense that my time wasn't valued. While the recruiter may be a contractor, this experience ultimately reflects poorly on Humaans' interview process.

Hi - we're really sorry to hear about your experience. From what you're describing, it doesn't look like this was a legitimate member of our team running this interview process with you. In our internal systems, we don't see interviews held on the 1st of June (which as also a Saturday, so atypical), we always run screenings with cameras on (unless previously agreed for any reason) and the note your shared saying "The recruiter then informed me they would forward my CV to Humaans for evaluation." made us think that this was an external recruiter pretending to act on our behalf. It would be extremely valuable if you could email our CTO Karolis directly via hiring@humaans.io sharing the details of the person that you interviewed with and where you applied, so that we can run an investigation and avoid other candidates going through such unpleasant experience in the future. Thanks so much!
