      Sales Development Representative Interview

      1 Jul 2016
      Anonymous employee
      La Jolla, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Housecall Pro (La Jolla, CA) in Feb 2016

      Interview

The interview process was unique and one of the things that led me to pursue the position. The first step in the process is actually applying and you have to call either the VP of Sales or the Director of Training in order to be considered. When I called, I got Ryan's voicemail and ended up leaving a message. If your experience appears to be a good fit for HouseCall, they'll contact you and get the next steps in motion: FYI - When I was hired, I didn't have a phone screen but that is something we are now doing. 1 - You have to do a personality and aptitude test which allows them to see if you have the qualities they look for in an employee - the culture is very important here and so far this has proven to be very successful in bringing in like-minded individuals! The "test" is nothing crazy and if you have a drive to succeed and are outgoing in your sales experience, you should be fine. 2 - If you get through the personality/aptitude test, you then have to create a short presentation for the VP of Sales and the Director of Training. You are tasked with a scenario in which you present the HouseCall product to a company that can benefit from it. Josh (Director of Training) and Ryan (VP of Sales) really get into character so don't be thrown off. Ask questions about their business, make sure you have a grasp on the product and give them solutions to solve their problems, and most importantly, have fun with it (I really enjoyed this portion of the process because it allowed me to learn more about the product while also giving me some insight into what our customers are like). 3 - If you get through the presentation, you are brought in for an in-person interview at the office. When I interviewed (in Feb. 2016) I interviewed with Roland (co-founder and Director of Business Development), Josh, and Ryan. I'll say that the interview process at the office was pretty laid back - they really take the opportunity to learn about you and your background. They are great judges of character and make sure you know what HouseCall is all about. Don't hesitate to ask questions, we are very transparent at HouseCall and they will give you straight answers to anything you want to know. The most important thing to keep in mind is that this is a startup - everyone here is grinding hard to make sure the company continues to be successful and if you have any reservations about working hard or contributing your knowledge to a team that is continually improving any way they can, don't apply. You'll work really hard but I can honestly say I've never worked with a better group of people in my entire life.

      Sales Development Representative Interview

      20 Sept 2018
      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Housecall Pro (San Diego, CA) in Aug 2018

      Interview

I had a 20-30 minute phone screening followed by interview with three of the Sales Managers. Once I was finished with my phone screening, I knew Housecall Pro was the place I wanted to be. Unlike the other few phone screenings, I could immediately tell that Housecall Pro offered something unique. The same thing followed with my in-person interview because of their ability to keep things casual, and make the interview just as much about what Housecall could offer me as what I could offer them. The interview was more conversational then a stiff, gut-wrenching experience. The interview panel made me feel comfortable enough to make myself vulnerable. They were curious to know my background and what brought me to the company, and they were open to sharing what brought them to the company as well. When I walked away from the interview, I felt a breathe of fresh air because of their willingness to share their personal stories and answer any and all of my questions. After I was finished with the Sales Managers, the COO interviewed me 1-on-1. At no point did I feel uncomfortable. Again, it was more conversational than anything. I knew it was a great interview process because I walked away itching to hear back.
