My first interview was with the Managing Director and it was almost entirely about me and my passion. At Hera they’re not just looking for “anyone”; they look for people who are genuinely passionate about structural engineering, because the work is challenging and spans everything from permanent works to temporary works. The MD wanted to understand whether I care about value engineering and making sure what ends up on my drawings is value for money for the client. In short, culture and mindset come first; the technical assessment follows.
After that values‑fit conversation, the process moved into the technical side.
What stood out: The interviewers were very experienced—a bit intimidating at first—but it made me excited because it was clear I could learn a lot from the team. The process felt challenging but fair, with clear communication throughout. Timeline was about 1–3 weeks, depending on availability.
