After a video call with HR, they sent me a take-home coding exercise. A week passed and they didn't follow up with an update or even inform me that they were reviewing my code. I had to send a message to HR to get an update to which they told me they were pursuing other candidates.
To any other companies out there if you're going to give people a take-home assessment the least you can do is provide an update or send a quick message as people have spent time and effort to complete the task. It's common courtesy.
