      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HCSS (Sugar Land, TX) in May 2010

      Interview

Everything starts with a basic math test that you sign up to take. If you have the availability you can take the test the day after you sign up. I thought the test was fairly easy and was given more time than needed. Results took about a day and then someone from HR called me for a phone interview. She told me it would take a few days to evaluate my interview and she would decide if she thought I was a good fit for the company. By the end of the day she had updated my profile page to say I was selected for an interview. It took a while for them to contact me back at this point. When she did contact me she told me she didn't have an opening for a few days, that I would have an interview with the supervisor and the executives. When I got there they gave me a personality test form to fill out while I was waiting. Then I had 3 separate face to face interviews. One gentlemen seemed to have this perfect list of what an interview should be and would point out when I did not fit the bill. The other two were fairly routine in previous experience questions. Then the HR lady comes in and says that they will all have a meeting and decide and if I was selected to have an interview with the two executives. It took five days more to find out I was not selected for a 5th interview.

      Interview

Three interview rounds. HR screening, technical interview, and a director interview. The initial HR screening went well. The recruiter was kind, clear, and informative. The experience shifted sharply after moving forward. During the technical interview, the interviewers showed clear disinterest. Responses felt disengaged and dismissive, which set a negative tone early. One question stood out. “What did you do when you attended university?” This felt out of place for a mid-career candidate with several years of professional experience. The question added to the sense of misalignment and lack of preparation. After speaking with many teams across other companies, this lack of engagement stood out. Rapport usually forms quickly in these conversations. Midway through the interview, doubts surfaced about culture fit and team environment. The director interview felt slightly better, but the same underlying disengagement remained. The conversation felt procedural rather than thoughtful, as if the process mattered more than the people participating. Overall, the contrast between the recruiter experience and the rest of the process raised concerns about team culture and candidate experience.

      Interview

Weird interview process. Math assessment, first interview, second math assessment, second interview (which lasted 2 hours). Kept asking you the same questions over and over again. One interviewer seemed disinterested in even questioning. Not sure where you stand really. Some question about a grocery store where you gotta ask about the items.

Play 10 questions with a grocery item that the interviewer thinks of.
