I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at H E B (College Station, TX) in Dec 2015
Interview
Told wrong location for interview......interview took 20 min tops with 18-20 standard corporate/retail questions or situations. Apparently they were looking for a younger candidate instead of an older veteran with broad experience in other industries. Lucky I know the younger candidate who interviewed for 10 minutes and got a call 2 hours later to come in to start work....I got an "Sorry Charlie" email at 8pm that night.......Not an Equal Opportunity Employer
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If customer had defective item purchased yesterday and what would you do..
Called me in for an interview knowing I had no overnight experience and no stocking experience but declined to give me an offer because of this, or so they say. I would say it's more likely they saw I was short and a little chubby and instantly discriminated against me physically, assuming I could not do the job. Then kicked me over to the Deli guy for an impromptu interview. Both ghosted me afterwards. Honestly pretty unprofessional behavior.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at H E B (Baytown, TX)
Interview
Pretty easy I got asked all the same questions that you would at any other interview like “describe a time where you had to work as a team” only reason I didn’t get the job is because they wanted someone to work a full 8 hour shift and I just wanted to work 4 max.
I applied online. I interviewed at H E B in Sept 2025
Interview
I applied online and 2 weeks later received a call from a manager for an interview. In my opinion, the interview went well and manager seemed excited for me to join the team. Afterwards, I heard nothing for several days. I called back and was told job was given to an internal applicant.
