I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at H E B (San Antonio, TX) in Mar 2011
Interview
Went through 2 phone interviews, 2 assessments, 2 one on one interviews over a two month period. The people interviewing were great, very friendly and made me feel comfortable. The interview process is a little convoluted, you're not 100% sure what comes next or how long it will take. That said, they answered all of my questions honestly and were very candid about the company and the job expectations. Going to the main office for interviews is confusing, the doors are locked and if there is no securitiy there at the time, you have to wait outside. I would advise people to ask a lot of questions and be patient. It can be a lengthy process.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had to terminate someone. What was the situation and what was the final outcome.
I applied online. I interviewed at H E B in Mar 2021
Interview
The phone interview felt very impersonal. No rapport building on the part of the recruiter. Most of the questions are leadership-related. I was surprised so many leadership behavioral questions were asked in a first interview/phone screen with a recruiter.

Interview
I received an email from an HEB recruiter after applying on their company website for the School of Retail Leadership to set up a phone interview. The interview was set two weeks from then and I was told would last 30-45 minutes.
The time came for the interview and she called right on time. She asked basic interview questions. It lasted just over 20 minutes long. About three weeks later I was called and told I was not selected for the position.
