I applied to a senior manager role in August and interviewed by phone the next day. I had two in person interviews. A recruiter confirmed the salary range at $95 - $105 (market rate) in writing and verbally at each interview.
A senior recruiter offered me the role, however at $20k below scale. She said that the salary was never at $95 - $105 and asked me to prove it. As requested, I cited her colleague’s email and she accepted the correct range, blaming the discrepancy on an internal error.
I accepted a verbal offer of an annual salary of $100 and 3 weeks vacation. They promised the offer in writing the next day but never sent it. Instead they said they would evaluate more candidates but keep me in consideration.
I voluntarily withdrew my candidacy a few weeks later after they said the role was changed to be a junior level with a lower salary range.
I continued to be contacted about this position by several placement agencies from August through December. They always presented to me as a senior manager level at the current market rate $95 - $105.
