Grafana Labs interview questions

The recruiter was excellent — kind, communicative, and supportive throughout. Unfortunately the rest of the process did not meet that bar. The overall process was poorly structured with long gaps between stages and no clear communication about timelines. The technical interview rounds were a different experience entirely — interviewers were dismissive, low energy, and provided minimal context. Lines of questioning were condescending and made it very difficult to perform well regardless of preparation level. Walking away it was hard to feel this was a merit based evaluation. The process felt more focused on whether a candidate would accommodate a dysfunctional team dynamic than on actual skills or critical thinking. Would not recommend based on the interview experience alone.

1. Recruiter: 30 min intro call 2. Hiring manager: 45 min deeper dive into resume contents 3. Take home assignment followed by 1 hour interview: AI coding tools allowed. Build a prototype project based on their requirements. 1 hour deep dive discussion on the take home assignment. 4. System design: 1 hour interview on designing a production grade system based on the initial prompt provided by interviewers. Expect to get grilled
