I applied online. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Oct 2025
Interview
Applied online - took around a month end to end. Recruiter screen was straightforward: background, motivation, and high-level product philosophy. Phone screen was with a PM - talked about how I’d improve Google Maps for advertisers and estimate YouTube’s storage cost. Onsite loop was 5 rounds: 2 product design, 1 analytical, 1 technical system design, and 1 behavioral. Expect heavy focus on structure and communication. They really dig into how you think, not what you know. Prepped through mock interviews on Prepfully - practiced with a former Google PM who helped me structure product answers better and think more “user-first.” Highly recommend doing at least 2-3 mocks before the onsite.
You would have to do a hiring assessment first, then a recruiter screening follows. First round interview with the hiring manager. Majorly product sense and product improvement. The questions were not direct though.
Overall a lot of steps to the interview process. Talked to different people and had opportunities to ask questions. Many different stages which made it a lengthy process overall. Wasn't too bad.
resume screening, a recruiter call, and technical or role-specific interviews. Candidates complete coding, system design, or behavioral rounds. Onsite or virtual panels assess problem-solving, communication, and leadership. Feedback goes to a hiring committee, followed by team matching and final offer discussions.
