      Account Executive Interview

      24 Sept 2025
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gong (New York, NY) in Sept 2025

      Interview

The interview process commenced with the Sales Recruitor reaching out to me via LinkedIn. I agreed to speak with her on the phone and was impressed with how candid she was about the role and what they were looking for. Salary and expectations were immediately something they sought to gain alignment on, which I appreciate. I then met with the person who would become my manager - another great call that tested my basic knowledge of Sales philosphy and strategy. I was able to tell my story and ask questions that would give me an understanding of her management style and what success on this team would look like. I then entered a mock discovery with the manager and the Director of Sales The recruiter did a fantastic job of preparing me for this. There were no trick questions - just a test of how you run a discovery call with a prospective client. Anyone with basic sales training should feel comfortable jumping into this, taking the feedback given live and applying it for another go at it. Lastly, I met with the regional VP. This was more of a culture fit assessment and it was a great conversation. I was offered the job later that day.

      Question 1

Why Gong? This is deeper than it seems. Why do you actually want to join Gong? This shouldn't be a place you apply to just to land a job - they aren't looking to just bring on people to fill seats. They are strategically hiring people who are applying with intent.

      Interview

Recruiters up front have been great, though through the interview process they fail to respond. I have gone through the interview process here three times as recruiters have either ghosted, left, or simply changed direction. Not once was I given a yes/no from a recruiter, and managers continue to reach out to me on LinkedIn.

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Gong

      Interview

After investing approximately two months in the interview process with the team at Gong, my experience was mixed. Following initial outreach from the hiring manager, it took about two weeks to schedule the recruiter screen, and nearly another month to reconnect with the hiring manager. I was then advanced to the presentation stage, where I was asked—based on a brief, somewhat vague one-page document—to prepare an account plan and conduct a mock discovery call. While I felt I performed well, it seemed the expectations were higher than what was outlined. During the discussion, I was asked what materials had been provided for preparation, but I did not receive any additional feedback or clarity afterward. After the final round, there was a gap of roughly two weeks with no communication. Instead of receiving a follow-up call or message regarding the decision, I was sent a generic feedback request email, which felt misaligned given the time and effort invested throughout the process.

      Account Executive Interview

      4 Dec 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gong (Dublin, Dublin) in Nov 2025

      Interview

I had a first round interview with Gong for Dublin. Unfortunately, I found the process unprofessional. My interviewer was 5 minutes late, and although that isn't a deal breaker, he didn't even acknowledge arriving late at all. He was also wearing a t-shirt which wasn't in good condition. Again, I don't mind wearing casual clothes to the office when appropriate but normally for calls with external clients/candidates, more formal attire would be welcomed. The interview lasted only 12 minutes and I wasn't asked a lot of questions. It was very by the numbers and I got the impression I was being interviewed as a formality. I wasn't given the chance to even ask questions at the end. There was essentially nothing to be gleaned from this interview from the company's perspective. After this, I didn't hear anything back. I eventually reached out to my interviewer via email to request feedback but was ignored. I found this to be a lack of courtesy. Really disappointing all around from what I understood to be a reputable company
