I recently interviewed with Global Finishing Solutions and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I was invited by HR for a phone interview, which went well. At the end of the call, the HR representative asked me for dates and times for an in-person interview, and I provided several options as requested.
Those dates came and went without any response. I sent two follow-up emails directly to the HR contact, and both went unanswered. Around the same time, I noticed that the job posting had been reposted, even though my application still showed as submitted for the new posting. My second outreach specifically asked whether my application was still under consideration or whether I needed to do anything else, and I never received a reply.
After the continued silence, I assumed this was either a case of disorganization or possibly disrupted HR staffing, especially given the number of reviews mentioning layoffs at this company. Three weeks later, I finally received a generic email saying I was no longer being considered for the position.
In my opinion, this is a poor way to conduct business and an unfortunate reflection of how the company treats candidates. Communication matters, and how an organization handles applicants speaks volumes about how they treat their people. I am relieved not to be moving forward, but I genuinely worry for current and future employees who may have to work in an environment where people seem to be treated like cogs in a wheel rather than individuals deserving basic respect and communication.
I hope the company takes steps to improve their hiring process. It would go a long way toward improving both their reputation and the experience of anyone considering working there.
