I interviewed for the COO role at Girls Leadership. The interviewing approach from the departing COO was clear from the start of our dialogue: to hone in on any real or perceived candidate weaknesses, and then center the conversation around any limitations or shortcomings she thought she sleuthed out.
I didn't think any reputable organization still used this as a hiring practice since the early 90s. It is simply the worst approach to take to find and secure talent. Moreover, it flies in the face of this organization's entire philosophy, which is to empower girls to become strong and confident women who know their self-worth. The interview was laughable.
The current COO also boasted about the number of qualified applicants interested in this role during my interview. Interestingly, she then posted the postion three additional times on external channels after we spoke.
Bottom line: There is a reason people in the community have concerns with this organization. Buyer beware.
