I had a frustrating experience during the interview process. After investing significant time completing a detailed questionnaire, the feedback I received was that my salary expectations were “too high.” Apparently 61k GBP is where they max out for a "head of" position. This is seriously laughable if the position is advertised in the UK.
My expectations were in line with market rates for the role and the level of experience required. It was a waste of my time and I wish they had a more transparent conversation earlier on.
Based on my experience, and supported by other employee reviews, it seems the company pays way below industry standards. This can create a situation where candidates are made to feel their expectations are unreasonable, even when they are aligned with the market.
