Interview
Application process happens the term prior to the one you start working (i.e. a couple of months in advance). One on one interview with a procedural programming professor and supervisor. Questions about past experience, undergraduate coursework, basic procedural programming. Lasted max 30 minutes. He emailed me back a week or two later saying I'm hired, however, when I received the roster I found out that I was passed over to work for two different professors who were teaching information security classes. I was very happy about that because it was my area of choice to begin with.
Formal however very straightforward . 2 interviews. First was via telephone with office manager then second was via zoom with manager plus supervisor. Interviewers allowed ample time to get to know me as a candidate and allowed me time to ask questions toward the end of the process.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) in Aug 2021
Interview
Informative, semi-informal atmosphere but still really friendly. The interview style was flexible, and it was easy to communicate with the Professors and staff. Like most institutions the contract paperwork will take a few weeks.
