I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at General Dynamics Electric Boat (New York, NY) in May 2020
Interview
I applied for 3 positions at EB. Within one week of submission, I was informed I would not be interviewed for one of the 3 positions I applied for. After about 2 weeks, I received a phone call and email request for an interview for the other two positions I applied for. A phone call was scheduled for about one week out back to back. Each call lasted roughly 45 mins. They began by asking me to tell them about myself. I started with education followed by my projects and work experience. They will ask questions if there is something you did not touch upon that they wanted to hear. They were very interested how you work in groups and deal with unexpected issues. They are curious what you have been doing since graduation if you haven't just graduated. They will then go over their department and what it is they do. They give you many opportunities to ask questions, I was very happy with my interviewers as they explained everything very well about the job and EB in general. I had few questions, but they were answered swiftly and directly. At this point, the interview will end. One of the two interviewers said they would contact HR to see if I would come in for an interview in person (they weren't sure due to covid19) or what the next step was. Shockingly, within a week of those interviews I was offered a position without any further interviews. They give you a few days to think about it and ask any questions needed before accepting an offer. All offers are conditional on passing a physical, hair follicle drug test, and a security clearance. You are interviewed by the department head and possibly a few other workers. Overall the interview was very laid-back and enjoyable. They may ask you about activities you do outside of work, a lot of them are car guys/motorcycle guys so its nice to connect on that level but just remember you're interviewing for a systems engineering job for submarines, not cars and bikes so don't get too far off topic for too long.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at General Dynamics Electric Boat (Groton, CT) in Apr 2026
Interview
The majority of the questions were based on your personality and ability to work within a team. There were no technical questions asked for an entry-level position that I interviewed for.

Interview
Phone Interview; Call with multiple engineers including senior staff and engineering manager. All incredibly accommodating. Interview consisted of a resume walkthrough / talking about previous internships and jobs, review of the systems I would be working on, as well as a review of company pillars and ethos. They did not expect perfect answers given I did not work at the company.

Interview
Pretty easy interview, just asked a few questions about my experience. The guys interviewing me were very nice and it felt more like a conversation than an interview. Still haven't gotten back to me though
