      Junior Account Manager Interview

      29 Jun 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cambridge, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gearset (Cambridge, England) in Jun 2022

      Interview

Had an initial interview with a team lead at Gearset, was a positive experience and made me feel comfortable. Got through to the next stage and had to complete a work based assessment - responding to an email. I spent a lot of time on this and was expecting to get some feedback as stated a lot about the recruitment process. The recruiter just got back to me and told me ‘it missed the mark’. It’s not that I don’t agree to a certain extent as I feel I failed to understand some of the content. However, given the amount of time I spent on the task it would of been nice to get some feedback about how I could have improved, or just some general feedback instead of ‘missed the mark’. I feel there is a lot of false claims surrounding gearset and the recruitment process - that they aren’t like other employers and offer a more detailed and advanced interview process - this is true but only by the means of it being a 4 stage process. In terms of company feedback and helping prospective employees improve, this just isn’t true. Seemed like a great company and would of loved to look at further jobs to apply for when I gained more experience. I won’t be doing this now due to my recent encounter.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback on our interview process, and I’m sorry to hear the experience you had didn’t meet up to what you were expecting. I know folks interviewing at Gearset put a lot of time and effort into preparing for the interviews and we really appreciate that. I can imagine having to ask for extra detailed feedback after our first response was limited must've been frustrating and I completely understand why. We normally provide feedback to everyone who interviews or completes an assessment with us, if they’re successful or not, because we know good quality feedback can really help you improve for the next interview. I can see we didn’t deliver on that promise for you and I’m really sorry for that. We always want to improve and provide the best experience we can for folks, and we’re already using your feedback to check our processes to make sure we deliver on that promise of a great interview experience for everyone. So thanks again for bringing this to our attention that we can do better. If there’s any more feedback you need feel free to reach out to our recruiter Ian who looks after this job ian.everett@gearset.com. I know he’d be happy to jump on a call with you to provide any extra feedback on this interview to help you for the future. Thanks again for taking your time to share this feedback and best of luck with your next role.
