I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Gartner (Fort Myers, FL) in Aug 2015
Interview
I think 8 or 9 one-hour phone interviews, then a panel interview on-site. Some of the phone interviews were technically oriented, but I knew the domain better than any of them (just sayin) so it wasn't bad at all. It did take a long time - over 3 months, but they claimed they'd been through several candidates that didn't make it through the process, so they were taking longer...I've heard they always take long and are very careful who they hire.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked if I could provide writing examples. They're very careful about getting people with strong people skills, a positive attitude and problem solvers - also with technical and writing/presentation skills, so a lot of questions I could tell were probing me for these skills.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Gartner (Irving, TX) in Apr 2024
Interview
The recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn. I scheduled a 30-minute meeting with them. The recruitment gave me an extension description of the job position. I was told that I had excellent research experience, but lacked business acumen. The recruiter was very transparent and communicated to me that for the position I was applying for, this was a red flag. They were looking for someone with experience working with C-level executives.
Their talent sourcers contacted me via linkedin. Asked for a phone screen. We had a pleasant chat. They said they would follow up with further steps, but they didn't end up doing so.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gartner
Interview
I was referred by an internal friend. I have thus far only interacted with the recruiter who has asked me questions relating to how I know the referring person and why I want to transition from academia to professional research.
