      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Gallup

      Interview

I applied online, which included a long online test, just as what is described below. I received an email to schedule a telephone interview. At first I was told if I pass the first interview I would go on to a second more detailed interview and then a possible shorter third phone interview with a hiring manager for clarifying questions, and then an in-person meeting with the hiring manager. However, after I passed the second phone interview they called me to schedule a third one that was the same format as the second, rather than any interview with the hiring manager. Two days after this interview I received an email saying they were no longer considering my candidacy and that they do not provide any feedback. The format of the interviews was exactly the same as what others have described. To prepare I had copied and pasted the questions others have posted here and answered them all in a Word doc. It takes a lot of time but it's worth it, even if it just helps you think of good stories for other interviews you may have. I found the interviewer to be extremely professional and easy to talk to considering the awkward rapid-fire format of the interview. In terms of the content of the interview questions, it's really more of a personality test. Some of the questions make complete sense to ask (e.g. about your feelings towards a pay-for-performance compensation model), but others seem to have the validity of a Rorschach inkblot test ("What do you think about when you're alone in the car?" "What was the last gift you gave?"). My sense is that I was initially selected for my interview based on a very relevant academic background in line with Gallup's principles, but in the end it was the lack of business experience that worked against me. If you're a PhD with little business experience, try and think of how your experiences might relate to business. For example, one question I had a hard time on was "Tell me about a time you lead a team into profitability." I had trouble coming up with an answer but in retrospect a good answer might be about a time you helped secure grant funding for your lab or supervisor through your research. It's all about spin at the end of the day.

      Interview

I underwent two rounds. First one was online on their portal post a week's time, I was scheduled for the second round. Second Round, was similar to first round but I was required to cite instances from my experiences to back my stand. It lasted for around an hour or so. The directions were that no question can be explained but can be repeated upon request. I liked the fact that they wanted to test the candidates comprehension capability. Well, post 5 days I saw the position closed on the portal through which I got to know about the position. Within a days time I received a mail of regret, stating the same "position has been closed".
