I applied in-person. I interviewed at GT Bharat LLP (Mumbai) in Jan 2023
Interview
For articleship at Grant Thornton, the process typically starts with strict resume shortlisting where only candidates with strong academics and a clean, professional CV make it through. Sometimes there’s an online test, but the real filter is the technical interview, where they test your basics in accounting, audit, and tax through practical questions like vouching vs verification or how you would audit cash—they are not looking for mugged-up ICAI definitions but clear, structured thinking with examples. This is followed by an HR or manager round where they assess your clarity of goals, willingness to work long hours, and genuine interest in the domain. Most candidates get rejected because their concepts are superficial or their answers lack structure, so the only way to stand out is to have strong fundamentals, answer in a logical format (definition + example + application), and communicate with clarity instead of sounding rehearsed.

It went well. I interviewed with the Managing Director, and the questions were fairly standard. The discussion mainly focused on my client-facing experience, communication skills, and how I handle stakeholder interactions in professional settings.
