I applied and a few days later suddenly got a calendar invite on my computer. No email, no message. And it was in 15 minutes! The recruiter asked me some pretty basic questions. Then she said “I have to be honest, the position has been open for awhile” and I asked why. She said “well let me read you my notes from the hiring manager”. The notes were: wants someone with CPG background, product marketer and P&L experience. None of these things are listed in the kid description. Everything written in the job description - brand strategy, integrated marketing- aligns with my background yet two days later I get a message that I’m “not a good fit”. I can only imagine how many other peoples’ time has been wasted by this recruiter and hiring manager for the past six months with a job description that doesn’t reflect what the hiring manager wants (which makes no sense, why would a CPG person want to work in insurance?). It’s no surprise this job has not been filled by now. Recruiter, stand up to the hiring manager and revise not only the job description but the title as well. If he wants a product marketer don’t advertise for a brand marketer.
