Mobile and Web Applications Penetration Tester (REMOTE) Interview

      28 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GEICO in Jan 2023

      Interview

      1. Phone screening was a very quick process (5 min) - the recruiter was pretty responsive (sometimes ignored my emails) 2. Interview with a Hiring manager - It was overall fun but questionable experience since I found some things in the job description that weren't accurate. One is the location. I was told during the interview that this position would require one to come into the office once in a while. In that case, they shouldn't put "REMOTE" (all in the capital, too) in the job title. They should put "hybrid" instead. I also noticed that they were location-blasting the job posting for almost every state which gave me the wrong impression. If I had known that this requires me to come into the office, I would have never applied. - Another thing to note was the seniority they were looking for. I was told they were looking for a senior or a lead position which was not disclosed in the job description. As I was looking for more of an entry to an intermediate position, seeing something like "Senior or Lead" could have stopped me from applying. -The company's benefits seem to be not-industry standard as they don't have Open PTOs (which I get currently) and you have to acquire through time (you don't get it at first..) I'm glad I applied since I got some interview practice going since that was my main goal for the process, but the job description seemed deceptive and the company's benefits seemed mediocre.
