I was contacted by HR over a month after I applied. I knew something was off when she set up the meeting with a generic GE Opportunity in the title. I was right. She just was gathering a candidate pool. She asked about my salary range, which I had already given her via email when she asked me for it a few days prior to the meeting. Clearly, she did not read it. The salary range was well within what they posted online. Her response was, "That it was too high." I said, it was within the range YOU posted. "Oh that is because we are legally obligated to do that." Then she should have added they were budgeting for a certain sweet spot in the description like I have seen other companies do, and I would have never applied. She said she was not pushing my resume forward, but if the manager gets desperate, then she will present me. How nice! I am not straight out of college to accept that. It was waste of time restructuring my day for nothing.
