Interview
The recruiter Darrin was fantastic, he really got me excited about the role and potential opportunity. The process moved fairly quickly and I met with the hiring manager almost a week after my phone screening with the recruiter. I thought it went well, we spoke about my experience for almost an hour. The hiring Mau told me how much she liked my personality and thought I’d be a great culture fit. A few days went by and the recruiter let me know he hadn’t heard from the hiring manager yet but he would follow up as soon as he had an update. That was about 2 months ago and I was completely ghosted. I assumed I didn’t get the role after about 2 weeks of radio silence. I just think it’s interesting a role focused on associates experiences totally forgetting that culture when it comes to potential candidates. I saw another role open that o was qualified for but this experience has put a bad taste in my mouth. It takes just a few minutes to update a candidate especially ones you actually interviewed. Just bad business.

Interview
The recruiter was one of the best I had ever met. However, the hiring manager and the person in PR that I met with didn’t seem to understand employee engagement outside of communications. They both really focused on how I write emails and how I would communicate about cyber security training. It seemed odd as employee engagement spans more into connecting employees to the company mission. The person in PR that I met with also didn’t connect with me and just jumped right into asking me questions the minute we started speaking. Very odd for someone in PR to not have a personality. I hope they find the comms person they are looking for and figure out that they also need more than just comms to get employees engaged!!

it was very fast and personable. it felt more like a normal conversation rather than a important interview. i didn’t do much prep or studying for the interview since i had no sales experience
