The interview process took over a month.
The contact person I had was not very responsive, and the process dragged on to absurd lengths. At one point, the contact person went on vacation, which stalled the process. For people looking for work, this is extremely unprofessional behavior toward applicants, especially when the reason for the unresponsiveness is never clarified until they return. They never used a substitute to finish the interviews in a timely manner so that applicants could move on. It felt like ghosting. I highly suggest not applying to this company if they don't improve their interview process and behave professionally toward applicants. Luckily, I was looking at other places and received an offer from somewhere more professional and engaging.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Free Range Games in Jan 2024
Interview
The process was clean, quick and fun. I met with the hiring manager directly and was set to meet the level design team afterward. Everyone was super welcoming, easy to talk to and proud to work at Free Range Games. A panel interview followed, I met people from the team as well as execs, I would not have told the difference between the execs and the IC as the conversation was natural and smooth. At some point I even got told that they LOVED me, which feels good even without a job offer ha! The questions were very good ones, complex in their simplicity and showing great insight about game development.
