      I interviewed at Freddie Mac

      Interview

Consists of three rounds: virtual interview, phone interview with a senior manager and Freddie Day which takes place at the Freddie Mac campus. Freddie Day is actually broken into two separate days -- the first is a reception that's optional and the second is a campus tour and when the in person interview actually occurs.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Freddie Mac (McLean, VA) in Nov 2019

      Interview

I applied online and then had a video interview on hirevue which consisted of just basic behavioral questions. A month later I was invited to Freddie Day from 8 am - 4 pm. There was a tour of the campus, presentations we had to listen to, 2 30 minute interviews, and a very easy group case study. There's an optional networking event the night before Freddie Day & they offer a hotel if you're traveling out of state as well as other expenses and up to 100 for meals per day. Everyone during Freddie Day was very nice and professional. There was about 40 people; I'm not sure how many were hired. I got an email from the recruiter about a month after the interview.

      Question 1

Basic behavioral questions there were no technical. They asked to talk about yourself, name a project where you worked on a team, etc.

      I interviewed at Freddie Mac

      Interview

On campus interview followed by interviews at Freddie. I had 3 interviews at Freddie which had mostly typical behavioral questions. One of the interviewers was technical and questions were tougher. Make sure you know what the actual rotations are in financial rotation programs, whether at Freddie or another company. Usually not a lot of finance the way you learn about it in college. It’s more so accounting and financial analytics (volume increased in this x type of asset because there was more demand from z type of investors). Excel, VBA, SQL and/SAS skills are extremely useful. Best way to add value as an analyst.
